This
is a very important day for our endangered species. Rhinos have faced
immense violence at the hands of humans and desperately need
our help.
Estimates show only 27,000 rhinos are still alive
today.
Help us
protect this amazing animal before it’s TOO LATE.
There
are five different species of rhinos: White rhinos, Black rhinos, Javan
rhinos, Sumatran rhinos, and Greater One-Horned rhinos. As a whole, people have wrought havoc on rhino
populations with some subspecies being affected more
severely than others (there
are only two Northern White rhinos left in the world)!
Humans are at fault for much of the hardship
facing rhinos.
➤ Rhinos are often massacred as part of the international wildlife trade as poachers hope to sell their horns.
➤ Across Africa, more than 9,000 rhinos have been killed by poachers in the last decade.
➤ Rhinos need large habitats through which they can roam, but
human activity has forced them to live on smaller and smaller areas of land.
These are amazing creatures. A black rhino has skin that can be as
thick as 5cm. White rhinos, despite
being the second largest mammal on land, can run 40km/hour.
There are so many incredible facts about rhinos, but one thing is
absolutely clear:
We do not want to leave future
generations a world without rhinos.
And we
don’t have to...
Wishing
you a happy World Rhino Day,
