Chiasmus
Chiasmus Definition
Chiasmus
is a rhetorical device in which two or more clauses are balanced against each
other by the reversal of their structures in order to produce an artistic
effect.
“Tea for two and two for tea”
Let
us try to understand chiasmus with the help of an example:
“Never let a Fool Kiss You or a Kiss Fool You.”
Notice
that the second half of this sentence
is an inverted form of the first half, both grammatically and logically. In the
simplest sense, the term chiasmus applies to almost all “criss-cross”
structures, and this is a concept that is common these days. In its strict
classical sense, however, the function of chiasmus is to reverse grammatical
structure or ideas of sentences, given that the same words and phrases are not
repeated.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The Environmental Corner - Dedicated to the restoration of our Mother Earth A study was just published about how damaging the Trump Administration’s policies really are: PER. YEAR. That’s enough to erase decades of progress in the fight to prevent climate change and slow the rise of our planet’s sea levels. This can’t wait Paul: Sign your name if you believe Trump should reverse his dangerous rollback of CO2 regulations But Trump? He’s trying to reverse all of that hard work in order to appease to Big Oil & Gas as well as climate change deniers: Part of Trump’s rollback includes axing fuel efficiency and vehicle standards put into place under Obama. The price tag for drivers without these efficiency standards? As high as $236 BILLION over the next 15 years. And that doesn’t even take into account the fact that Trump completely TRASHED President Obama’s Clean Power Plan -- An item at the top of the fossil fuel industry’s wish list. We need to reverse Trump’s “virtual surrender” on climate change: Demand he REVERSE his dangerous regulatory rollbacks Fight back, 314 Action ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ |
